Yamaha is famous for great musical instruments – from upright or grand pianos through electric guitars to its Clavinova electric pianos. Well making headlines in the shopping news just now is Yamaha’s amazing new flagship keyboard, the Tyros 2.

Well I’m no Elton John, and as you already know I’m not even Mark Knoppfler, but the Tyros 2 would make even me sound like a great keyboard player.

This premium electronic keyboard comes complete with speakers and is marketed for both amateurs and professionals. But with the £2,000 price tag, you’ve got to be a serious musician to buy this one, rather than one of the many fantastic electronic keyboards you can get for half the price.

But check out this video of the Tyros 2 and you’ll see why this groundbreaking keyboard is a bargain. And you’ll see why the better the musician you are, the more fantastic the things you can make it do.

This Yamaha has a host of great new features, but the one that impressed me the most is its ability to mimic exactly how an instrument such as guitar or sax would respond to the touch.

As you’d expect, the Tyros can record to hard disk, play from CD, connect to your PC, store music samples and a host of other things. But the only way to really appreciate what this can do is to go and play one.
